Are You Using Your Child Seat Right?

Crash Protection for Child Passengers: A Review of Best Practice

 Who is Alexandria CARES?

Alexandria CARES is a private non-profit educational charity dedicated to helping families effectively use child seats in their cars. Our services include car seat safety inspections and education on selecting, installing, and using the right car seat for children of all ages. Over the last three years, we've assisted over 4,000 families with their child seats, saved 11 children (that we know of) from death or injury, helped reduce the child seat misuse rate by 4%, and given away over 100 booster seats to Alexandria's Latino community.

How can we help you?

Alexandria CARES checks child seat installations by appointment. Please call (703) 924-9294 for information about making an appointment and for answers to your child seat questions and help with installation.  Contact Mark Bergin at (703) 924-9294 if you are interested in volunteering for this event.

Please call (703) 924-9294 for the most recent schedule updates. If you are not in or near Alexandria, Virginia, use this child passenger safety contact locator to find help.

How can you help us?

Let your friends and family know about Alexandria CARES and the services we provide.

We operate entirely on private donations and our services are provided by unpaid volunteers.  $40 buys a child seat for a needy family but we appreciate any amount. You may send your donation to Alexandria CARES corporate office at 6049 North Morgan St., Alexandria, VA 22312.

Finally, we also appreciate donations of your time. We can always use help staffing seat inspection events. To find out more about child passenger safety, seat inspection training, and Alexandria CARES volunteer needs, contact Mark Bergin at (703) 924-9294.

Thank you for helping to make our community's children safer!
